Have You Heard All The Discussion About The HCG Diet?

By Riley T. Simonis

The HCG diet is a low-calorie diet aided by special drops. On a low calorie diet, the body uses up the day's calorie intake earlier and begins to burn fat as a source of fuel instead. The supplements used in the diet help to maintain muscle mass and burn only fat where a low-calorie diet alone might affect muscles before fat is burned. HCG drops assist in easing any negative side effects, like irritability or fatigue normally associated with low-calorie diets. The HCG diet overall performs as a method of resetting the way the body handles excess fat and uses calories. The special diet consists primarily of three stages; initial intake, training your metabolism, and the final maintenance phase.

During days one and two of the special diet, a high calorie diet is recommended during the initial use of the HCG drops. The body's fat regulation process is altered in this initial phase to help ensure that, during the lower calorie intake phase of the diet, the metabolism will burn fat. The period of low-calorie intake in the diet is helped by the initial high-calorie phase as it decreases excess hunger throughout the diet process. The special diet's second step, including the low-calorie intake, forces the body to burn excess fat when the daily calories are used up as a fuel source.

Once the drops have triggered the body's metabolism to restructure as a fat-burning machine, the maintenance part of the diet commences. Calorie intake begins to increase back to normal levels, and the use of formula is no longer necessary in the maintenance phase of the special diet.

Calorie intake, however, must be slowly raised as to not disrupt the metabolism and the body's new process of burning fat. During the maintenance phase of the diet, weight needs to be monitored closely to confirm that the body's restructured metabolism is preserved throughout the calorie increase.

Since the diet plan requires low calorie intake, it is suggested that the physical activity portion of the diet consist only of light exercise. Because there are fewer calories used for energy, strenuous exercise could cause starvation and fatigue as the calories are used quicker. The hormones in the drops will not affect a woman's menstrual cycle, and there are no other known side effects from the program. Pregnant women are not advised to use the diet, as they are likely to see little to no results because of higher calorie intakes necessary for nourishment during pregnancy.
